Mama Ida Odingas’ fundraiser for a library, research and information Centre at Ogande girls realized Ksh. 176million, becoming the highest ever amount raised for a library initiative.
The 500-seater, Sh300 million complex will contain a library, a resource and innovation centre, an ICT hub, recording studio, auditorium and conference facilities.
Ogande Girls High School is located in West Kagan Location, Rangwe Constituency in Homa Bay County. It is a girls’ day and boarding secondary school founded in 1964.
Ogande is famed for its strong Christian values, which began under famous principal madam Rosemary Odette. Girls were also served ‘special meals’ and in the 1980s, fried eggs, veges, fruits and quarter loaves were common breakfast offerings.
